Ballarat Farmers Market

The Ballarat Farmers Market runs every Second Saturday of the Month at Lake Wendouree, Ballarat.  It used to operate twice a month, but commencing July 2018, the market is here just ONCE a month.

Thanks for supporting us on the Second Saturday – and please come out to Brown Hill for the market on the Fourth Saturday.  Brown Hill is only a few minutes drive east of the Lake… they’ve taken down the border control posts, you don’t need a visa and people in Brown Hill are reputed to be very friendly, so PLEASE come join us!  It’s going to be a new adventure for the market and we hope you’ll join in the fun.  Loads of people from Brown Hill have told us how excited they are about the change.  We know some others who live close to the Lake who are sad about not having a market twice a month; sorry!

Ballarat Farmers Market operates on the foreshore of beautiful Lake Wendouree.  Our location is just opposite the Botanical Gardens.

A market has operated on this site for well over a decade.  From 2014-2018, the market was run by local community group BREAZE, with Steve Burns engaged as the market manager.   In early 2018, the BREAZE Inc. Board decided that operating a market wasn’t part of its core direction and announced it would not seek a renewal of its licence with the City of Ballarat beyond expiry of the current licence on June 30.

From June 2018, Steve will take on full management of the market.  Commencing in July, the FOURTH Saturday market will move to Brown Hill Hall, which offers undercover operation for nearly 20 stalls, plenty of parking, on-site toilets and a great supportive local community.

The Second Saturday market will CONTINUE at Lake Wendouree.

We’ll still be here once a month.  Did we mention that?  Second Saturday of every month…  I think I covered it… fingers crossed.  🙂
