Market Information

The Ballarat Farmers Market runs every Second & Fourth Saturday of the month at Lake Wendouree, Ballarat.

The market is in Zoo Drive, just off Wendouree Parade, at the northern end of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.  We have hot coffee, food vans, local fruit & veggies, baked goods, eggs, honey, olive oil and loads of specialty stalls.  Although we’re a food-focussed market, about half of our stalls offer other products.

A market has operated in this area for well over a decade.  From 2014-2018, the market was run by local community group BREAZE, with Steve Burns engaged as the market manager.   In early 2018, the BREAZE Inc. Board decided that operating a market wasn’t part of its core direction and announced it would not seek a renewal of its licence with the City of Ballarat beyond June 30 2018.

From July 2018, Steve took on full management of the market, which ran twice a month on the second and fourth Saturdays.  At that time, he moved the Fourth Saturday market to Brown Hill, where it operated until March 2020 when shut down by COVID-19 restrictions.

The two markets resumed in July 2020, with both relocating to Zoo Drive.  (As the Fourth Saturday market was no longer in Brown Hill, both markets were then named Ballarat Farmers Market).
